Anthony "Benny" Mondo Sr., 88, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at University Hospital, after a short illness. Benny was a lifelong resident of Syracuse. After serving in the US Navy during WWII, Benny spent his working career at Crucible Steel, where he retired in 1980. Benny was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #625 and the American Legion Post #1650. Over the years, Benny enjoyed spending his time bowling, traveling to Maine, Atlantic City, rooting for the Yankees and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Benny is predeceased by his daughter, Carole Fehrman and sister, Rose Marie Telesco.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Anita; his son, Anthony Jr.; son in law, Ron Fehrman Sr.; brother, Edward; beloved grandchildren, Ron (Sharon) Fehrman Jr., Greg Fehrman, Eric (Chris) Fehrman; great grandchildren, Zachary, Austin, Laura, James and Ryan; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday, 11 AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 9:30 – 11:00AM, at the funeral home, before services.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of your choice.
