Anthony (Tony) Dias, 86, of Mattydale, passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital, surrounded by his family. Tony was born in New Bedford, Mass, Dec. 10 1923. He graduated from New Bedford High School where he was later inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. He attended Dean Academy Prep School on a football scholarship, served in the US Navy during WWII and attended Syracuse University. He retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1980. Tony is predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Dias and a grandson, Scott Concordia.
Tony is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; three daughters, Catherine Concordia, Barbara Dias, and Deborah Fine; a sister, June Medeiros; three grandchildren, Steven Concordia, Kate Lange and Anna Lange; one great grandson, Jordan Lange.
Honoring Tony's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services at this time.
