Anthony L. "Tony" Calabria, 71, of East Syracuse, passed away at his home on Aug 2nd, 2024. Tony was born and grew up in Fremont within the Town of Manlius, New York, and graduated from East Syracuse-Minoa High School in 1971. Tony was a skilled journeyman plumber and a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local No. 267 early in his career. He eventually joined the UAW, and retired from New Process Gear in East Syracuse after decades of hard work and service.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Anthony “Tony” Calabria in 2002 and Elizabeth “Betty” Calabria in 2019.
He is survived by his children; Anthony “Tony” (Linda) Calabria, Candice (Brett) Dangle, and Derek Calabria in addition to his grandchildren; Blake Dangle, Markus Calabria, Parker Dangle, and Malin Calabria. Tony was very close to his siblings Kathy Raymond, Marie Stevens, Christine Stephens, Valerie Dillon, and Pat Calabria. He had a large family filled with several cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, and uncles.
Many knew Tony throughout his life as “Tone the Bone”. He had an electric personality, and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him would never forget him. Three of Tony’s passions were his large family, The Beatles, and rock-and-roll. To anyone that knew him well, it was not strange to see him blasting his music, playing air guitar, and dancing. Tony had an extensive wild T-shirt collection and loved making everyone laugh. He lived his life to the fullest and that was the only way that he had known. Full heart, all passion! Whether he was playing drums in a band in his youth, working long days at the Gear, supporting his family, or battling some of his toughest days with illness, he was invested. Family was so important to him, and the love from his family was incredibly strong. Tony’s brother, Pat donated to a life-saving bone marrow transplant, which helped to give Tony his last 6 beautiful years here on earth. Tony is a man that will never be forgotten. Everyone has a memorable story, a funny memory, or a one of a kind experience they can share about Tony regardless of who you were to him in his life. He was just that kind of person and that is exactly how he wanted it to be.
“And when the broken-hearted people living in the world agree. There will be an answer, let it be. For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see. There will be an answer, let it be.” - The Beatles
