Anne J. Barnes, 92, of Syracuse, NY (formerly of Waverly, NY), passed away on Tuesday after a long illness.
She was born to the late Paul and Josephine Murphy on July 15, 1921 in Auburn, NY. Anne attended Auburn City Schools and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima church in North Syracuse. She married George F. Barnes in 1942 and moved to Waverly, NY to raise their family.
Anne enjoyed traveling, especially visits to Okinawa, Japan to visit her daughter and son-in-law serving in the US Navy. She was also an avid knitter; her family and friends will continue to enjoy the slippers she crocheted for many years to come.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret Rumpf of Maine; two sons, Paul Barnes of Canisteo, NY and Robert Barnes, of Cicero, NY; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her husband, George; son, Fred Barnes; and daughter, Mary Anne Chvala.
Funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.
