Anna Mae Selley
October 6, 2012
Anna Mae Selley (January 1st 1924 – October 6th, 2012), long-time resident of Central New York, was a living beacon shining brightly against the incessant rain and snow slouching in off Lake Ontario. She was a charmer, the sort whose ebullience was not only effortless but also natural. She lived in a perpetual state of joyful giving, expressing her compassion for others without shields or inhibitions, be they family or neighbors or the people she served while volunteering with numerous charitable organizations, most notably the Leesburg Food Pantry, where she donated her time even while her own health declined. After serving in the Navy and working twenty-five years for General Electric, Anna Mae retired to Florida, where she traded ice storms for hurricanes and made a name for herself in her community as a truly formidable card-player. Anna Mae is predeceased by her husbands, Alex Selley and Thomas Ambers, her brother Al Wirkes, her sister Alice, and her daughter Donna Mae Bradshaw.
She is survived by her son, Edwin "Butch" Bradshaw; her four grandchildren, Andrea Castro and her husband Robert; Tanya Anderson and her husband Jonathan; Jaison Ciaranello and his partner Michelle, and Douglas Milliken; her five great-grandchildren Makenzie, Sierra, Jameson, Caileb, and Jacob; her niece Christine Angell and her husband Don; her two nephews John Wirkes and his wife Ivy, and Rev. Stephen Wirkes; and her three stepdaughters Barb Hethcote and her husband Michael, Debbie Paullin, and Sage Miller.
Services will be Thursday, 11 AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
