Anna I. Liberty
November 16, 2012
Ann Liberty, 80, of East Syracuse, NY lost her brave battle with cancer on Friday morning, at home, with her family at her side. Ann, daughter of Israel and Yvonne Hebert, was a life resident of Collamer, on the land her father had homesteaded and farmed. A graduate of St. John the Baptist High School and Powlson Business School, where she received an Associates Degree in business. Marrying Frederick Liberty in 1953, she put her career on hold to become a "stay at home mom." She enjoyed gardening, raising strawberries and raspberries, and her daily 30-minute walk. Ann was Leader of the 4H Clovers Club for nine years, was President to the Simon Parise VFW Ladies Auxiliary, served on the Blessed Sacrament Ministry of Care, and Choir, and volunteered to sing at funerals because she felt that music helped in the grieving process. Fred and Ann enjoyed square dancing in Pairs & Squares, and North Syracuse Square Dance Club for 43 years.
She was also part of the McChesney Park Senior Exercise Program.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred; three sons, Paul (Janet Lynn) Liberty, Mark (Susan) Liberty, David (Randy) Liberty; two daughters, Irene Liberty and Helen (Kenneth) Taite; ten grandchildren, Benjamin, Vincent, Victor, Erik, Daniel, Robert, Joseph, Rachel (Ricardo), Janica, and Cole; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Maximilian. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Louis Hebert.
Services will be held at 9 am on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James St., Syracuse, NY 13206. With the burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 4100 East Genesse St., Dewitt, NY 13204.
