Ann Rita McVene, 96, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023 at Syracuse Home. Ann was born in Syracuse, New York on January 27, 1927 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Klamm.
Ann started her career at the New York Telephone company until her marriage. She worked for a short time at the Baldwinsville Messenger newspaper after her children were older. After the death of her husband, she worked at a Marine Midland check processing center, as a teaching assistant to a special-needs child for the Baldwinsville school system, and finally to Syracuse Home as an Activities Assistant, the favorite job of her lifetime. After her retirement in her late 70's, she returned to Syracuse Home on a per-diem basis taking residents to medical appointments well into her early 80's, often younger than the residents she served. Ann volunteered on many ministries in all of her years as a parishioner at St. Augustine's Church and spent many happy hours volunteering at Syracuse Home after her retirement.
Ann donated her kidney to her son when she was 51 years of age and lived a healthy, happy life to the age of 96.
Her life came full circle when she returned to Syracuse Home in 2019 to spend her final days, so loved by the staff.
Ann was predeceased by her parents cited above, her brothers, Joey and Dicky Klamm, her husband, Harry McVene, her McVene sisters and brothers-in-laws, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Fisselbrand who was always like another beloved son to her.
She is survived by her two Daughters, Elizabeth (Michael) Barber and Kathleen Fisselbrand; Son, Harry McVene; four grandchildren, David (Jessica) Fisselbrand, Kevin (Jennifer) Fisselbrand, Michael (Andrea) Barber, Shannon (Warwick Bartrum) Barber; five great grandchildren, Garrett (Samantha) Barber, Jack Fisselbrand, Jeanne Fisselbrand, Molly Fisselbrand and Khloe Fisselbrand.
