Anita Auerbach passed away on May 18th, 2020 at age 89.
Anita was born in Vienna, Austria on August 28, 1930 and emigrated to Manhattan, N.Y. in 1938. She was the daughter of Grete Goldin, who was a homemaker, and Mark Goldin, a concert pianist and teacher, who performed in Carnegie Hall. She followed in her father's footsteps, becoming a concert pianist and teacher, with her own Carnegie Hall debut. Anita was an avid tennis player throughout her life and an accomplished duplicate bridge player.
She was predeceased by her husband Zareth. She is survived by her children: Deborah Caryl (of Syracuse, N.Y.) and Paul Auerbach (Cary) (of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.); her grandchildren: Mark Caryl (Lois), David Caryl (Danielle), Zoe Auerbach (Nick Edwards), Jonathan Auerbach (Josephine Llorente), Eric Auerbach (Christina Chung), and Lana Auerbach; her great grandchildren: Ella Caryl, Max Caryl, Nora Caryl, Owen Edwards, and Olive Edwards.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care that was given by the Iroquois Nursing Home staff in the last months of her life.
