Angelo LaVerne, 94, of North Syracuse died surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 22, 2019.
Angelo was a Solvay native, proud of his Italian heritage. His parents, Dominic and Mary Lovermi, immigrated from Canicatti, Italy. Angelo met the love of his life, Evelyn, while both were working at the Kallet Theater. They married in 1948.
Faith was the foundation of Angelo's life. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Curley Council #3717.
Angelo was employed by General Electric for 34 years. He followed that up by working for 14 years at Power Federal Credit Union, a role he enjoyed until his retirement.
Angelo was and will always be a proud Marine Corps veteran, having served in WWII, and was a member of the Greater Detachment Marine Corps League of Syracuse.
Besides his parents, Angelo was predeceased by his sisters Rose LaVerne, Louise LaVerne Petrone and Jane Kammers. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 70 years, Evelyn (Mertell), his sons Dominick (Cheri), James (Dale) and Michael (Patricia); and his daughters Mary Lou (Chuck) Gaetano and Darlene (the late Douglas) Seamans; his sister-in-law Florence Warren; many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. A funeral mass will be on Saturday 10am at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery.
