Angel A. Esquilin-Torres, 91, of Clay, passed away on May 3, 2024. Angel was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, on March 7, 1933 son of Ramon and Juana Esquilin.
Angel served in the US Air Force traveling all over the world before retiring after 26 years. He was later employed by the US Postal Serice for 15 years before finally retiring; he started his 2nd Career as a Letter Carrier and finished as the Hispanic Program Specialist. He was a NY Yankees and NY Mets fan, giving equal time to both Leagues. He loved to play chess and never losing to his children. He was an avid bowler, competing in Leagues with his wife and children. He played in softball leagues against other branches of the Military during his Military Career. He was also a little league coach in the late 1960s. Angel and Judy were foster parents for more than 20 years.
Angel was predeceased by his wife, Judy Esquilin and his brother, Andres Esquilin.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Luke P) Renna, III, sons, Angel A. Esquilin, Jr., Raymond A Esquilin, 3 grandchildren, Dirk A Esquilin, Angel A Esquilin, III, Luke P Renna, IV, his siblings; Julia Esquilin, Javier Esquilin, Ramon Esquilin, Baro Esquilin, Isaiah Esquilin, Malda Esquilin, Aida Esquilin, along with many nieces, nephews, foster children, and friends.
Visitation will be held from on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1-4pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
