Andrew M. Peterson, 57, of Central Square, NY passed away at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY on August 7, 2020 due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born on April 28, 1963 in Long Branch, NJ to David and Karin Peterson who later moved and raised their family in Cortland, NY. He graduated from Homer High School in CNY, attended Tompkins Cortland Community College, and graduated from Acme School of Aeronautics in Fort Worth, TX.

Andy spent his lifetime pursuing his passion of flying which became his fulfilling career in corporate aviation. He began his flying career with Bard-Air Aviation in Cortland, NY, then flew for New York Power Authority in White Plains, NY. He returned to Syracuse, NY to fly for Executive Air Services Charter & Management Company before moving on to fly for Jet Management Group. The most treasured ten years of his career was spent flying out of Syracuse, NY as Chief Pilot for General Transportation Services in Liverpool, NY. He finished his career flying for National Grid out of Syracuse, NY before being forced into medical retirement.

Andy was married to his wife, Lisa, for 20 years. He is survived by his wife and their three sons, Gregory, Alex and Connor; three brothers, Erik (wife Elizabeth) and their five children of Malvern, PA, Daryl (wife Andrea) and their two children of Stafford, VA and Darven of Mount Vernon, NY; as well as his Great Aunt Helga Idselis-Knoerr (Donald) of Venice, FL.

Andy is predeceased by his parents, David and Karin; maternal grandparents, Rudolf and Nina Newmann; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Elsie Peterson.

Andy enjoyed golfing and spent time on the Amateur PGA Tour in Florida. He loved boating and spending time with family and friends. Andy was a loyal friend to so many, a caring son, a brother to look up to, a devoted husband, and a proud father. He will truly be remembered for his huge heart and endless smile, while he is free to fly once again.
