Amy Gildemeyer, 66, of Syracuse, New York passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness. Amy spent the majority of her career working for the engineering firm, JMT, where she was admired and respected by her colleagues. She also spent her life devoted to her family. She was a daughter, a sister, a niece, a cousin, an aunt, and most recently, a great-aunt, to her seven great nieces and nephews. She was also a loyal friend to the life-long group she held dear to her. Those who knew Amy, also knew her to be a passionate sports fan, cheering first and foremost for the Syracuse Orange, but also for the New York Mets. She loved baseball and often attended Syracuse Mets games. She was also known for her love of reading and puzzles, she always had a puzzle out at varying levels of completion in her house.
Amy is predeceased by her mother and father, Charline (nee Stansbury) and Carl Gildemeyer. Amy is survived by her sister, Charline (Anthony) Sciacca; her brother, Carl (Michele) Gildemeyer; her brother, Alan (Bridget) Gildemeyer; nieces and nephews, Christie (Jeremy) Atkins, Christopher (Judith) Russo, Lauren LaVine, Brian Gildemeyer, MacKenzie (Michael) Kavanagh, Kathleen (Robert) Spenard, and Bailey Gildemeyer; and great-nephews and nieces, Noah, Nathan, Samantha, Daphne, Emma, Andrew, and Flynn. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and her absence leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew her.
Calling hours are Friday, January 31, 2025 from 10am-12pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse with a service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the Rescue Mission, 155 Gifford Street, Syracuse, New York 13202, where she proudly volunteered a lot of her time, helping to serve others during their time of hardship and need.
