Alwin G. McEwen Sr., 68, of Mattydale, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at the VA Medical Center.
Although he was a jack-of-all-trades, he most enjoyed painting outside. Alwin loved fishing, yard work, and gardening. Alwin was a fan of all music and enjoyed listening to and watching music shows. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Alwin is also predeceased by his grandson, Anthony Dukat; his brother, John and his sisters, Diana, and Carol.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Beverly; his children, Anna Husted, Diana Dukat and Alwin Jr.; 8 grandchildren, Crystal, Brittany, Nathan, David, Kari, Justin, Jennifer and Haley; 1 great-grandchild, LeAnna; 4 brothers, Thomas, Robert, Loren, and Raymond; 5 sisters, Laura, Cora, Wilma, Ruth, and Shirley and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 9-11am with service following at 11am on Friday at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. Burial at Onondaga Veterans Cemetery, Syracuse.
Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
