Allen B. Jenner

Allen B. Jenner, age 86 of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family March 23, 2024. Al was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 6, 1937. He graduated from Laurens Central School in 1956. Al served in the US Army, doing a tour of duty in Korea. He graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in 1959 as a licensed First Class Radio Engineer and was employed by General Electric as an Electronics Technician. Al married his high school sweetheart, Janice in 1962. He attended Onondaga Community College and transferred to SUNY Oswego in Oswego, NY where he received his BS and MS degrees in Elementary and Secondary Science Education. After graduation, Al started teaching at Durgee Junior High School in Baldwinsville. His tenure lasted 31 years. During that time, he served as Assistant Adult Education Director, Science Department Chair and taught science in Junior and Senior High. Al also started the WBXL radio station with Mark Humphrey, a student at Baker High School. He taught radio broadcasting and ran the station for twenty five years and also worked at WSEN radio for 37 years, serving as Chief Engineer and DJ. After retiring from Baldwinsville Central School District, Al taught as an adjunct professor at Onondaga Community College. He also became a motorcycle enthusiast and rode all over the US and Canada notably trekking through the Yukon to Alaska and making the "4 Corners Run" of the domestic United States. His day was not complete without his continued fellowship with his friends in the community. Breakfasts, lunches, laughs and practical jokes were in order with his friends who meant the world to him. His warmth, curiosity and sense of adventure continue to inspire everyone who knew him.

Al Jenner is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Brownell), daughters Anne Esse (Chris Lyons) of Rochester, NY and Susan (Kevin) Ebeling of Rochester, NY and three cherished grandchildren Julia Esse, Henry Webb and Sarah Webb.

A memorial service for Al will be held on Friday March 29, 2024 at 2:00pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 705 North Main Street, Syracuse, NY 13212.
