Allan L. Raethka
January 20, 1942 — November 24, 2021
It is with great sadness that Allan L. Raethka, 79, of Central Square, NY, lost his two year battle with dementia on Wednesday November 24th, at 4:53 pm at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
Allan was born on January 20, 1942 to Adele and William Raethka in Schenectady, NY. Allan graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady in 1960 where he received many awards for his outstanding athletic abilities. On completion of graduation, Allan then went on to college. He attended Blinn College, Brenham Texas, Russell Sage College, Troy, NY and finished at Penn State, Indiana, PA. He entered the US Army right after completing college as a medic. When he finished his military services, he then went back to Houston, TX continuing his skills in the health field. He worked at various hospitals, working in the ER and OR settings.
Allan eventually came back to Syracuse and Schenectady areas, landing a new career in sales and marketing with Acosta, where Allan once again received many awards for his outstanding sales ability. Allan held this position until his retirement. Allan was and always will be an avid Boston Red Sox Fan along with his passion to golf. He was a 40ish member of the American Legion Post 113, in B'ville.
Allan leaves behind to cherish his memory, many friends and his loving & devoted partner of 18 years Jan Dove.
Allan requested no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time.
