Alfred L. Lacelle, 92, formerly of North Syracuse, NY, passed away Monday. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada he played professional hockey until an injury ended his time on the ice. Alfred was married to Anne Lee Riccardo Lacelle who predeceased him December 10, 1985. He loved to play Bingo, watch hockey and baseball, listen to country music, travel and visit with friends. In his younger years he was known for his pool playing ability. Al was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He served in the Canadian Merchant Marines. He was his happiest when he was with his family.
He is survived by his companion of over 30 years, Mildred Darrah, his children, Randy (Tracy) Lacelle and Anne Marie "Dee" Lacelle (Rob). He had 6 grandchildren, Robert "Bobby" Champion who predeceased his grandfather, Christopher (Kristen) Champion, Aimee Champion, Fallon (Michael) Roehm, Melissa Potratz, and Brianna (Jason) Davis, he also had two sisters who reside in Canada, Therese (Claude) Guy and Jeanne D'Arc Lacelle. The family that he was very proud of also included many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Services will be private, held at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, with burial to follow in Town of Herkimer, NY.
