Alfred H. DeLong, Jr., 71, of Syracuse, died April 25, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born in Boston, Massachussetts on January 7, 1947 and moved to Syracuse as a child.
Al was an exrememly generous man who enjoyed fishing, bowling, collecting coins and baseball cards and horse racing; but, there's nothing he loved more than his grandchildren. He retired from Crucible Steel after 34 years, when his first grandchild was born. Al was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Al was predeceased by his father, Alfred DeLong, Sr.; mother, Mary DeLong; son, Michael DeLong and brother, George DeLong.
He is survived by his son, John (Kathy) DeLong; daughter, Michelle DeLOng; sister, Dee (Edward) Luteran; five grandchildren, Evan, Madison, Gracyn, Selena and Ryan and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 4-7pm on Friday, April 27th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in N. Syracuse. The funeral service will be held at 9am on Saturday, April 28th at New Comer followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
