Alfred E Coon, 82, of Scott NY, passed away on 4 Feb 2019 in Skaneateles Lake.
Visitation will be held at Scott Methodist Church on 9 Feb at 11:00 AM. A short Funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Allen McCormick officiating at 12:00 noon.
Burial will be at a later date in a private ceremony.
The Scott Methodist Ladies auxiliary will provide a reception in the church dining facility after the funeral service on the same day.
Alfred was born in Scott NY to Gaius and Austina Coon on 21 September 1936. He went to high school at Homer Central and graduated in 1955. He worked at Brockway Motor Trucks for 17 years and the balance of his career as a Certified Welder for Regan-Riter Boiler Works. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed Shooting Sports, Hunting, Trapping, and most of all, Fishing. If you launched your boat at the Town of Scott Park you met Alfred; he volunteered his time collecting fees, inspecting for invasive species, and assisting boaters. He was very proud of the 9-point buck he took this year.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy Coon, of Scott NY, Son Brian E (Toni Murray) Coon, Daughter Lesley (Norman Svendsen) Coon, grandchildren Emily Coon, Scott, Lindsey, and Heather Svendsen, great-grandson Josh Svendsen-Ross, Sister Shirley (Jim Campbell) Coon, several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Arlene (Richard White) Coon.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Scott United Methodist Church for their compassionate community service.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Spafford Food Pantry, 6816 NYS Rt. 41 Homer, NY 13077.
