Aleatha "Lee" Close, 84, of Lyncourt, is finally at peace with God and family.
She was born in Watertown, NY to the late Mary and Fred Amond.
She married Burton Close in 1959 and they remained married until his passing in 2000. Lee retired from the Syracuse City School District where she worked feeding lunches to the children. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Burton Close; son, Clarence Close; brother, Warren Amond; daughter-in-law, Christina Amond and two best friends, Martha Farruggio-Bloss and Dorothy Lyskawa.
Lee is survived by her children, Gene Amond, Susan Amond Babcock, Carolyn Close Jaskulski and Mary Ann Close; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Close; 10 grandchildren, Gina, Michael, Brandi, Melissa, Danielle, Tiffany, Jenny, James, Matthew and Jody; several great-grandchildren, brother, Leland Amond and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 4th 4-7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in N. Syracuse. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 5th 9 AM in the Chapel at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd. Syracuse, NY 13215. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
