Alberta Jane Doran

A. Jane Doran, 75, formerly of North Syracuse, NY, passed away on Sunday December 10, 2006, at her daughter's home in Chittenango. Her son, Michael Doran and brother, Richard Gates, predecease her. She is survived by her loving husband Leo, of 57 years; seven children: Susan (Frank) Kordziel of Chittenango, Sharon (William) Schlueter, of Chittenango, Leo V. Doran Jr., of No. Syracuse, Sherry Doran, of Chittenango, William (Roxanne) Doran, of Cicero, Sally Doran, of Marcellus, and Paul Doran, of Parish; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Born on Christmas day, 1930 in the town of Pulaski, NY, daughter of A. Maurice and Flossie M. Gates, she graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1948. Growing up, she was close to her only brother, Richard M., who died in 2003. On Jan. 8, 1950, she married Leo and for a short time moved to South Dakota. Later they moved to Syracuse and spent most of their lives in North Syracuse, NY.
Jane worked for 30 plus years as a bookkeeper, including Inland Express and Burns Manufacturing Company. After retirement (!), she continued to work for Illusions Hair Salon, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Jane also enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren; she loved to play checkers, knit, garden, care for her dogs, play slot machines, faithfully watch SU games, and to proudly hold all family gatherings at her home. Jane treasured her family and stretched her love to all. She will be dearly missed.
Memorial Services will be Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. at New Comer Family Funeral Home, No. Syracuse. Calling Hours are 4:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Spring Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Richland.
