Joseph Rey, 81, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27th, surrounded by his family. He was born in Tunis, Tunisia to the late Frances and Pascal Rey.
Joseph came to the United States at the age of 14 with his family. Joseph worked for Bristol Myers Squibb until his retirement. He proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves for several years. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus Color Corp. Joseph loved to volunteer and help others including working with such organizations as: Meals-on-Wheels, St. Joseph's Hospital, and Make-a-Wish Foundation.
He was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers, Frank and John Rey; as well as, Julianne F. Rey, the mother of his two daughters.
Joseph is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth (Ken) Wilcox and Christina Rey; grandchildren, Alyssa and Bryan Wilcox. He is also survived by his former wife, Linda Hance and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 4,2024 10am at the funeral home with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local Meals-on-Wheels.
