William A. Spingola, 92, of Cicero passed away on September 12, 2022. He was born to the late John and Lena Spingola in Clearfield, PA.
In his youth, Bill liked to play baseball, and even tried out for the Pittsburg Pirates. He went on to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War. He then married the love of his life, Frances, and started a family in Clearfield, PA and later transferred through his job to Erie, PA. After the move, he opened his own business, Gem City Tire, a tire and auto center. Following retirement, he then moved to Cicero, NY to be closer to daughter, Kara. There he would travel and sell t-shirt, ball caps, and other miscellaneous odds and ends. In his travels he became known as "The Shirt Guy" and would give away gifts to those in need. It brought him joy to give to children and would let them pick out their favorite shirts and caps.
To Bill family was everything and made sure everyone was very close. His grandkids were very special to him. He often went on family vacations, loved a good party, and a glass of wine with every meal. He was a very optimistic person who always looked on the brightside of life. People loved him everywhere he went, and he always made others feel welcome. With that said, he still enjoyed his peace alone, spending his time hunting, fishing, and being in the woods.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Frances (Unch) Spingola; Parents, Lena and John Spingola; Brothers, Frank, John, Dominick, and Robert.
He is survived by his Daughter, Kara (Spingola) Gilbert; Grandkids, Joseph Gilbert, and Kayla Gilbert; Great-grandchild, Emma Gilbert; and many Nieces and Nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 12:00pm to 2:00pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals with a service to follow.
