David Wayne Alger

January 23, 1954 — August 30, 2021

David W. Alger, age 67, died on Monday, August 30, 2021, at the VA hospital with family and a special team of ICU doctors and nurses who fought till the end.

David was born January 23, 1954 in Fulton, New York to Glenn and Helen Alger (Blount).

He is predeceased by his parents. However, the long standing Sunday dinners at Grandma Helen's house were one of Dad's favorite things and one of his favorite memories after she passed. He is survived by his brother Rick (Margaret) Alger of Hastings, NY and his sister Sherry (Christopher) Boyce of West Monroe, NY, along with nieces and nephews. His sister and brother were his closest friends and they remained close even as they grew up and built families of their own.

David was blessed with 3 daughters from his first marriage and is survived by his 3 daughters, Heidi Alger of Syracuse New York, Stephanie Alger of Cicero, NY, and Nicole Alger of Phoenix, NY. Between his 3 girls he has 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Dad loved to check in, share Bible stories, go fishing and treasured pictures of his grand and great grandchildren.

A special day in his life was November 23, 1985 when he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved the hope and comfort he found in the Bible and was always eager to share it with anyone who would listen.

As a witness, he met and married Linda Alger (Kammer) on January 5, 1991. Through that union he was blessed with 3 more daughters, Alicia (Ryan) Eastman of Lakeland, NY, Carlene Alger of Syracuse, NY and Liane (Jake) Nobile of Lakeland, NY along with 2 more granddaughters and a third on the way.

Dad loved fishing and time spent eating or enjoying a drink with family and friends. He had an incredible work ethic and wealth of knowledge that he put to use to build his own home from the foundation up. He was always a call away if anyone need help, and would do anything he could. He loved a good long drive, and being a truck driver was truly the perfect profession for him. Family vacations were always epic, we invited as many people as we could and have a multitude of crazy adventures that were shared with friends and family alike.

Dad always looked for the good in people no matter what. While he loved unconditionally he expressed his love in a way that made you want to do better, to be better. He always looked forward to a time of peace and happiness on the earth, as described at Isaiah 65:17-23. And we look forward to a resurrection, in those earthly paradise conditions, where we can see him free of pain and get another one of his wonderful hugs. (Acts 24:15)
