Robert L. Michaels
June 12, 1928 — December 2, 2020
Robert L. Michaels, died peacefully on December 2, 2020 surrounded by the loving thoughts and prayers of his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Janet; daughters, Deborah Fisch (Paul) and Shelly Michaels; granddaughter, Jennie O'Hara (Tracy); brother, Charles Michaels; sisters, Helen Dixe and Dorothy Putman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was born on June 12, 1928, son of August and Alice Michaels of Liverpool, NY. He grew up on the family farm with his six brothers and sisters.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Bob had a plumbing and heating business in the late 1950s, serving families on the North Shore of Oneida Lake. Bob then went on to a career as a truck driver. He loved being on the road. He retired from YRC Freight Company.
After retirement, he and Janet spent many winters in Lakeland, Florida. Bob and Janet loved to dance. They met at a dance in Camden, NY. They enjoyed dancing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Bob was a great mechanic, enjoyed keeping his vehicles tuned up, installing and repairing heating systems, and working on anything electrical.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
Special thanks to the Skilled Nursing staff at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation, especially the 12th floor staff where Bob resided since January 2020, we appreciate their kindness.
There will be no calling hours.
Spring services will be at West Monroe Cemetery.
