Dorothy L. "Dottie" Cunningham, 91, of Syracuse and formerly of Sherburne and Norwich, passed away Saturday evening, December 28, 2019.
Dorothy was born in Sherrill, New York on July 5, 1928 to the late Harold Ellis and Alice Borchardt. She devoted her life to caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed doing crafts, especially ceramics and painting. She loved traveling, spending a lot of time in Michigan and Maine. Dorothy really enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including family reunions.
She is survived by three daughters, Joann Powell, Sandra Hendricks, Joan (Christopher) Kear; son in law, Bernie Cooper; brother, Ken (Sharleen) Ellis; sister, Carol (Eldaige) St. Peter; sisters in law, Joanne and Jean Borchardt; brother in law, John Collins; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Cunningham; two sons, John and Robert Powell; a daughter, Christine Cooper; two brothers, Rick and Clifford Borchardt; and three sisters and a brother in law, Dawn (Rodney) Davis, Alta Collins, and Lena Ellis.
Services will be private with interment in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to PACE of CNY or the Sherburne American Legion, Post 876 in honor of Dorothy.
